Is Your Car Ready for the Winter?

Every year in September I look back at my maintenance logs and see what hasn't been serviced. I get my car winter ready before winter begins.

A lot of parts say they will last so many miles. So the manufacturer's warranty. You can buy tires that will give 40,000+ miles. Axles/CV joints typically say 30,000 miles or so.

I get my car a "physical", for lack of better terms.

Check tire treading for wear and tear.
Check tire pressure
Also check for uneven treading.
Get my hub assemblies (wheel bearing) examined
Tie rods
Control arms
Struts
Strut mounts
Brakes system
Sensors
Battery
Alternator (free testing at Advance Auto Parts)
Exhaust system
Trans Fluid
Rain-X  -32°F. Windshield washer De-Icer

I get my oil changed around December or January. I use a high milage oil in the winter. I don't know if it is better but that's what I do.
